The remarkable efforts of all involved with the club’s fantastic junior section were celebrated at a memorable afternoon at Kirkleatham Walled Gardens.

Redcar Athletic is home to a catalogue of junior teams, ranging from under-7s through to under-18s, with over 250 children spread across them.

The ceremony provided the club with an opportunity to show appreciation to not only the players, but the parents and volunteers for all of their time and dedication throughout the year.

Over 600 people were in attendance across two sessions at a decked out Walled Gardens, where over 250 players were rewarded, whilst more than 60 received individual achievement awards.

Steve Simpkin, the head of our junior section, expressed his delight at a fantastic event.

“After a challenging few years in which we couldn’t (for obvious reasons) organise big events, we were determined this year to make it as special as possible, and judging from the feedback we achieved that goal.

“It was a fantastic day, starting on the afternoon with the under 7 to under 11 age groups, who filled the room with enthusiasm.

“It was truly great to see the children laughing, smiling and enjoying the day together.

“On the evening it was slightly less chaotic but no less enjoyable, as we celebrated the under 12 to under 17 age groups, which culminated in an hour long sing-a-long, with the under 13 girls leading most of the choruses.

“It was a day to remember, and one I’m pleased we had the chance to put on.”

Steve also expressed his thanks to Kirkleatham Walled Gardens for hosting the event, praising their impeccable support both on the day and leading up to the event.

A massive well done to all of those who received awards from everyone at Redcar Athletic.
