Redcar Athletic Under-23s made it three wins in a row as they cemented their place in the promotion places.

The game was switched to Guisborough as the pitch at Green Lane was deemed unplayable.

On a heavy pitch, Redcar dominated the early exchanges, with Tom Newton and Dave Bradley both missing chances to give Redcar an early lead.

Redcar eventually took the lead on 38 minutes, when Cam Thomson delivered a delightful cross to the back post where Ste Sullivan headed home. The duo had only been on the field for a mere three minutes.

A lapse at the back allowed The Fox Inn to equalise on 42 minutes, with Emrah Isik getting his hand to the ball, but couldn’t prevent it going in.

On a deteriorating pitch, both sides were finding it tough to pass the ball, but it was Redcar who retook the lead on 62 minutes, when an excellent run from Jack Williams ended with a shot that the keeper saved well, but Ste Sullivan was on hand to slot home the rebound.

As the game entered the last 10 minutes, Redcar looked to have made the game safe when they made it 3-1. Ste Sullivan crossed to Cam Thomson, who side stepped a defender and squared it to the unmarked Dave Bradley, who had the simple task of finishing from close range.

On 82 minutes, The Fox Inn were gifted a way back into the game when Ollie Goldsmith committed a foul in the penalty area, giving the referee the simple task of pointing for a penalty, which was converted.

However, Redcar made the game safe two minutes later when Ste Sullivan showed great strength to outmuscle a defender and square the ball to Cam Thomson, who finished with ease.

Man of the Match: Ste Sullivan
