“We'd love it if people come down and support the lads.”
Redcar Athletic Under-23s coach Mark Hathaway has issued a plea for support at Green Lane this Sunday, as the young Steelmen have the chance to end a successful campaign with silverware.
Dave Marshall’s men take to the hallowed turf at 10:30am to face local rivals Redcar CF, the final derby clash of the season on the ultimate pedestal, the Terry May League Cup final.
Green Lane to host Under-23s cup final
A fitting end to a thrilling season, marred by a number of ‘nearlies,’ Mark Hathaway knows the competition is ‘tough,’ but hopes the young Steelmen have what it takes to raise the coveted trophy.
“We’ve had a very successful first season in this league.” The assistant boss quipped.
“We’re going to narrowly miss out on promotion, and we were really unfortunate to lose out in the County Cup on penalties at the semi-final stage.”
“We’ve narrowly beaten Redcar CF twice in the league,” he continued, “but know it’s going to be a really tough game.”
“Both teams know where the net is, so it should be an entertaining game.
“We’d love it if people come down and support the lads.”
Entrance into Green Lane for the Terry May League Cup final is priced at £2 per person, with children admitted for free. A programme will be available upon arrival.
We hope to see a number of familiar faces down the Lane. Bring the noise! Our Under-23s deserve it!
