The young shot-stopper saved two penalties to send the Steelmen into the First Round of the Isuzu FA Vase, still deflecting to credit to those in front of him, who he argued held on superbly under pressure.
Only the third time Redcar Athletic have reached the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Vase in seven attempts, the feat certainly wasn’t made easy by a spirited West Auckland Town.
Joe Taylor struck first for the Steelmen, and in some fashion, Layton Watts netting on his Green Lane return to force the tie to be decided from the spot.

Josh Mazfari made the decisive save as the shootout descended into sudden death, still keen to stress the achievement was a team effort, and not his own work.
“It’s not really on me.” He said.
“The word ‘hero’ is flying around, but it’s a credit to the lads in front of me. I didn’t actually have the best game.
“Those lads, they just kept grinding. They kept going for it.
“I thought in the first half, we deserved to get a few more goals out of us, but in that second half, the lads defended incredibly.
“More so well done to them, than me.”
