The Priorymen under wraps in our latest instalment of ‘The Lowdown.’
Separated by a mere seven miles, Redcar Athletic’s Northern League success is today put to the test in a good old-fashioned Teesside derby.

WHO ARE YA?
Guisborough Town
Celebrating a half-century of football just last year, Guisborough Town are a club saturated in local heritage.
The Priorymen are four time champions of the North Riding Senior Cup, boasting one of the most prestigious records across the Teesside non-league scene.

The club have played at their home on Howlbeck Road since their inception in 1973, attracting 3’112 fans to the ground in a record attendance in 1979, as they sank Hungerford Town in the FA Vase semi-final.
Guisborough would go on to face heartbreak at Wembley, losing to Stamford, before North Ferriby United scuppered their dreams of a return to the hallowed turf 20 years later.
For the past 38 seasons, the Sunderland-inspired red and white stripes of the Priorymen have featured in the Northern League, with the club falling short of promotion to the Northern Premier League on a couple of occasions.
CURRENT FORM

A mixed bag to start the season, Guisborough Town are yet to hit the heights achieved in the previous campaign.
The Priorymen opened their latest Northern League venture with victory at Northallerton, since tasting defeat in a triple-header against Kendal Town, and yet to win on home soil.

Redcar Athletic, in a worrying contrast, are yet to lose in the Northern League, salvaging all three points from a losing position against Shildon on Tuesday evening.

Ten men? No problem. Our finest derby day outing as an Isaac Walker hat-trick made light work of a dire situation.

FAMILIAR FACES
Brad Mills
One of many players shared between the two Teesside rivals, Guisborough fullback Brad Mills last year scooped praise running the flank in a different red shirt.
Brad netted once in 25 appearances for the Steelmen, this afternoon facing his former club for the first time.

Mason McNeill
Another formerly of the Steelmen, Mason McNeill made close to a half-century of appearances in the red and navy, opting to return to Guisborough Town in the early months of the year.
Netting against the Priorymen in the last meeting of the two Teesside rivals, Mason will be one-to-watch this afternoon, for sure.
