The boss spoke to Club Media ahead of our pre-season opener this Saturday.
Redcar Athletic boss Carl Jarrett says Saturday’s Charity Match against Redcar Town is an encouraging step up in his side’s pre-season preparations.
The two clubs will meet for the latest instalment of a captivating rivalry in memory of Matty Graham, who played for both before his untimely passing earlier this year.
It will be the first chance for the Steelmen to put three sessions of training into practice ahead of August’s debut in the Northern Premier League East.
Carl Jarrett admitted the key takeaway at this stage of the season will be minutes in the tank, but it win over local rivals is never something to be sneered at.
“What I’m really looking forward to is playing a competitive game.” He said.
“We’ve only had three sessions ourselves, so it’s a quick turnaround, but there’s nothing better than playing games.
“It’s all about getting minutes into the legs, working on a couple of little things that we need to work on, and seeing the new lads joining in.
“I think everyone has fitted in really well with each other as a group.
“It’ll be nice to see some old faces as well. I know Craig Gott is over there now, and a few Marske (United) lads that we all know.
“Hopefully it’ll be a great day for all involved. I’m looking forward to getting back to playing some football.”
