The boss previews this Saturday’s home game against Tow Law Town.
Carl Jarrett says Redcar Athletic have ‘no divine right’ to beat a struggling Tow Law Town when they visit the B&D Interiors Stadium this weekend.
The Lawyers currently sit bottom of the Northern League, eight points behind Seaham Red Star, and twelve adrift of safety.
Despite their lowliness, Tow Law have shown no shortage of fight and desire this season, and for Carl Jarrett, they should not be underestimated.
The boss cited the reverse fixture at Ironworks Road, a hard-fought encounter Redcar were made to work for, arguing the Lawyers’ fight for survival meant as much to them as ours at the opposite end.
Jarrett insisted his players focus on themselves, and our own game, noting that the title was almost within reach with ‘eight cup finals’ to go.
“We don’t look at other teams, or where they are in the table.” He said.
“We look at what we’re about, how we should be playing, and how we set up.”
“That’s what we did on Tuesday night.
Credit to Kendal, they pressed us, they were in our face, and they made things hard for us.
“We couldn’t play the same fluent football that we have been, so that’s fair play to them. You can’t take anything away from them. They were excellent.
“Going into Saturday, we’ll look again to do things right that we have been. We’ve been trying to coach the lads on how to get through and win this league.
“We won’t take anything for granted against Tow Law. I remember playing them away from home. I think we only beat them 2-0, and it was a scrappy game.
“No one stops in this league. We’ve got no divine right, no matter where we’re sat in the table – if we’re top or bottom – we’ve got no divine right to beat anybody. You’ve got to work hard first.
“Saturday will be no different. It is not a game we’re taking lightly.”
