Our breakdown of Crook Town AFC, and our trip to Millfield.
Millfield is the destination for Redcar Athletic this afternoon, as boss Carl Jarrett targets a third successive win to further the gap at the top of the table.
WHO ARE YA?
Crook Town
Founded in 1889, Crook Town are perhaps the most well-known team to feature in the Northern League.
Steeped in history, the club have enjoyed many a successful foreign tour – including once to Barcelona to support football in Catalonia – as well as boasting a number of domestic successes.
The Black and Ambers are five times champions of the Northern League, most recently in 1963, whilst more significantly raising the FA Amateur Cup a remarkable five times too.
Crook play their football at the historic Millfield Ground, a site which has seen swathes of large crowds line it’s antiquated terraces.
The prestigious stadium now holds a lone 1’500 spectators, but once regularly sported attendances above 10’000, with the record coming against Walton and Hersham in 1952, as 17’500 watched a goalless draw in the fourth round of the FA Amatuer Cup.
CURRENT FORM
Finally, a relevant form guide… ish.
Redcar Athletic have played twice since the turn of the year, winning both games without conceding in an emphatic return to the title fight.
Oscar Fletcher and Mark Anderson netted to sink Guisborough Town at the B&D Interiors Stadium, whilst a lone goal from Fletcher outfought Whitley Bay.
Our Durham compatriots debut in the league this afternoon, as far as 2025 is concerned.
The Black and Ambers began the year with a dramatic Isuzu FA Vase victory to move on to the FIFTH Round Proper, since losing to Division Two Thornaby in the Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup.
PREVIOUS HISTORY
Redcar Athletic have a rather positive record against Crook Town, conceding just the one point to the Black and Ambers in the last six encounters.
The Steelmen last visited Millfield in 2023, when an early own goal from Daryl Hall was soon overturned by an Isaac Walker brace in an emphatic 4-1 comeback.
PRE-MATCH MEDIA
Carl Jarrett says Redcar should be full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s trip to Millfield.
