The young forward impressed as a trialist during pre-season.
Redcar Athletic are pleased to confirm young forward Cam Thomson has penned a deal with Carl Jarrett’s First Team.
The 19-year-old makes the step up from the Under-23s after a successful stint in pre-season as a trialist, capturing the eye of the Redcar boss with a number of impressive performances.
A product of the club’s youth set-up, Cam starred in attack for Dave Marshall’s Under-23s last season, making headlines with a sensational Van Persie-esque strike in the Terry May League Cup final.
Earning a trial with the First Team, Cam seized the opportunity by the horns, capping off his eccentric play with a spectacular goal in a 2-1 win over Thornaby.
On promoting Cam to work with his First Team squad, Redcar boss Carl Jarrett labelled him eager, praising both his tenacity and workrate, on and off the field.
“Cam has impressed me.” Jarrett said.
“I watched him play last season for the Under-23s, and he’s been knocking all pre-season in training.
“He shows really good quality, and is more than eager to impress and step up.”
