We took a look at Newcastle University in our latest instalment of ‘The Lowdown.’
Redcar Athletic tonight welcome Newcastle University to The B&D Interiors Stadium in the First Round of the Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup.
WHO ARE YA?
Newcastle University
Newcastle University Athletic Football Club are one of few universities in the UK to complete outside of the BUCS (British University and College Sport) system.
Affectionately known as ‘The Royals,’ the club boast two teams in the NLS (National League System). The First Team was promoted to Northern League Division Two as Northern Alliance Premier Division champions in 2018.
Newcastle University enter three teams in BUCS Football, the ‘1s’ playing at the highest level attainable in the Premier North.
The club recently reached the semifinals of the BUCS National Championships, where they unfortunately fell short.
CURRENT FORM
Young and hungry, Newcastle University come to the B&D Interiors Stadium on the hunt for a fourth successive victory.
The Royals haven’t lost since October, when they were twice beaten by promotion-favourites Jarrow and Crook Town.
Redcar Athletic lost to in-form Shildon on Saturday afternoon, a second consecutive defeat on home soil having previously gone twelve undefeated.
Cup victories in Northallerton and Whickham have sandwiched the Steelmen’s poor league form.
