“A club with ambition.”
The fifth through the door for 2024, no-nonsense central defender Danni Lay brings strength and security to Carl Jarrett’s backline.
Opting to switch the greener grass of the Northern Premier League for the Redcar seafront, he spoke to Head of Media Ash Stone about his desire win the league once again.
A pivotal part of the Two Blues’ title-winning side, it’s no surprise Danni is keen to replicate such success here at Green Lane.
The fifth to put pen to paper for the 2024/25 season, Lay cited a matched drive for success from the Steelmen behind his decision to sign.
“Redcar are a club with ambition.” He said.
“The club have great facilities, and a manager, and squad, that can win trophies.”
Spurred on by his praise of Carl Jarrett and his roster, Danni went on to offer high ambitions for the upcoming season, quipping that nothing less than winning would suffice.
“Thoughts for the season ahead?”
“For me, to be moving forward, nothing less than winning the league! And going for the Vase too.
“Winning the Northern League with Bishop Auckland, and the way we did it, was a great achievement.
“I can’t see why we can’t achieve something similar at Redcar.”
A steadfast central defender, Danni harbours a reputation for being tough-tackling, certainly not shying away from such when quizzed about his own personal game.
“I’m strong, aggressive, and can be aerially dominant.” He said, adding that he loves a tackle.
“I can’t wait to get back to pre-season with the lads, and to get started!”
