As part of our ongoing bid to enhance football opportunities for young girls in the Redcar and East Cleveland area, we have both Wildcat and Squad Girls sessions.

For parents that have a budding footy enthusiast or two, these are the fun filled sessions for your daughters!

TUESDAY

Women’s Walk N’ Talk (Long) | The Palace Hub | 10:30am

Everyone needs a chance to release their worked-up energy sometimes, so why not join the gals at The Palace Hub for the long Walk N’ Talk, from 10:30am.

“Both Men and Women Deal with Mental Health Challenges and sometimes it’s nice to spend time in a safe space with like minded women.

“We offer planned walks for women of all abilities on a weekly basis, and at a leisurely pace, to support healthy living and exercise as well as a time to enjoy and chat with others.”

Zumba Class with Glyn | Durham Road Community Centre | 6-7pm

Enjoy some Zumba with instructor Glyn. He has classes around the Teesside area all week, but his Redcar class is hosted in the Community Centre on Durham Road (TS10 3SB) every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Classes cost £3 for adults and £2 for children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Learn to Salsa | Saltburn Community Hall | 7:30pm

Ever thought about learning Salsa? Pop along to Saltburn Community Hall (TS12 1JW) for a brand new Salsa beginners class with Kerry.

There’s no partner needed and no booking needed – just £5 per person (18+) for an hour-long session. 

Cutty Wren Folk Club | Redcar Borough Park Bowling Club | 7:45pm

Every week the guys at Cutty Wren Folk Club host a night of fantastic music with guest performers.

They say: “If you’ve not been to the Cutty Wren before, give us a try. Comfortable venue with a good range of reasonably priced drinks, easily accessible and a warm welcome.” Entry is just £5.


 

WEDNESDAY

Women’s Walk N’ Talk (Short) | The Palace Hub | 10:30am

Don’t fancy the long walk? No worries! 

There’s a short walk organised every Wednesday mid morning from The Palace Hub on the seafront – just turn up and get walking (and nattering too!)

Solo Salsa | St. Hilda’s Church | 7:30pm

Latin line dancing is on the agenda for Kerry and co on Wednesday evening, with classes costing £5 at St Hilda’s Church (TS10 4AW).

Again, no partner needed for the hour-long evening of learning and fun.

Cleveland Retired Men’s Association | 25K Centre, Ayton Drive | 09:45-11:30am

Cleveland Retired Men’s Association (CRMA) is seeking new members to join their group. They hold a weekly meeting every Wednesday at the 25K Centre,  Ayton Drive Redcar (TS10 4LR) from 09:45 to 11:30.

Pop along and meet new friends, enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit and listen to one of their guest speakers or informative DVDs. Entry is £1.50.


 

THURSDAY

Bacon Butty Club | Green Lane, Redcar Athletic | 10am-12pm

Every Thursday morning we host a club for ex-Steelworkers and anybody interested in making friends and discussing all things Redcar.

The town prides itself on its steelmaking history and we pride ourselves on the community. This is the perfect event for communal value and reminiscing on what brings us together the most.

 It’s completely free and is hosted at the clubhouse at Green Lane (TS10 3RW).

Guisborough Town Market | Guisborough High Street | 9am-4pm

Held every Thursday and Saturday, Guisborough’s weekly market sells several local grown fruit, vegetables and meats plus flowers, decorative items for loved ones and much more.

If you’re in the area on these days and during the above times, support local businesses and shop the market.

Salsa Beginners & Improvers Classes | New Marske Institute Club | 7:30pm

There’s a class for beginners and those looking to refine those dancing shoes at New Marske Institute Club (TS11 8EG).

Entry for this class is £6 per person.

Ali’s Fitness Class | Zetland Park Methodist Church | 5:15-6:30pm

Fitness with a twist! Ali hosts two different types of fitness classes every Thursday at Zetland Park Methodist Church (TS10 3AU).

The first class, starting at 5:15pm and finishing at 5:45pm is Dancercise in the Dark, entry for which is £3.50. The second class that follows at 5:50pm and concludes at 6:30pm costs £4.50 and is called Rockbox.

Entry for both classes is £6 – £3 for new members.

Open Mic Night | Green Lane, Redcar Athletic | 7pm

Our Open Mic Night will be on at The Steelmen’s every Thursday for the forseeable.

Come down to partake, or to have a pint and enjoy some local tunes from local artists. Bar open from 7, open mic begins at 8!


FRIDAY

Redcar High Street Market | 9am

Friday is the Redcar Market’s designated weekly day – from Nicola’s Cake Corner selling fancies, pies, cookies and sandwiches; to Dog House Designs selling unique and original hand made jewellery and gifts, there’s something for everyone at the market. 

It finishes up at 4pm, so make sure to check out the stalls in good time!

Raceday | Redcar Racecourse | Gates open 11:50am

It’s Raceday on Friday with the first race set to get underway at approximately 1:50pm and the final race being run at 5:16pm.

Those wanting to come along are advised to book their admission tickets in advance and save money on the pay on the day price.

Friendship Friday | Community Stepping Stones Café 

Join the lovely people at the Community Stepping Stones Cafe in Dormanstown (TS10 5HE) for a cuppa, some soup and some connecting with new found friends!

The introductory price for anybody wanting to pop in is £3.

National Cycling Championships Circuit Race | Esplanade | 6:30pm

The National Cycling Championships are coming to Redcar this weekend!

The circuit races will be held on a 1km circuit around Redcar, starting on the Esplanade and heading down the High Street. Both the men’s and women’s races will last for 55 minutes.

The women’s race will take place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, followed closely by the men’s race from 8pm to 9pm. There will also be lots of space along the route for spectators looking to get in on the excitement.

There will be balance bike session, arts workshops and food stalls from The Spoke Market. There will also be live music from local musicians and festival favourites Groove Inc. and for cycling enthusiasts, Dan Mather’s Pop-up screen printing station.

SATURDAY

Ladies Day | Redcar Racecourse | Gates open 11am

Racing, fashion and fun! It’s Ladies Day on Saturday at Redcar Racecourse.

Gates open at 11am with the first race getting underway at 1.37pm and the last race starting at 5.13pm. The Best Dressed Lady Competition will be awarded after the 4th race at 3.22pm and the Best Hat Competition will be awarded after the 5th race at 4.02pm.

Entry is advised to be booked in advance to save money on the pay on the day price.

Armed Forces Day | Redcar High Street | 10:15am-3:30pm

Redcar and Cleveland’s Armed Forces Day will take place on Redcar Hight Street, and will commence at 10:20am with a parade of military personnel, both past and present. They will be marching along the High Street toward the King Edward VII Memorial Clock for the official opening ceremony.

The High Street will have a range of stalls hosted by military and local civilian charities, there will be entertainment throughout the day with musicians and singers, cadet drill displays, children’s activities, and displays of military memorabilia – making this a fun-packed event for all ages, with refreshments available throughout the day.

The event finishes at 3.30pm.

SUNDAY

Redcar Junior Park Run | 9am

A free, weekly timed run for kids aged 4-14, which takes place in Locke Park, Locke Road, Redcar (TS10 1HA).

It’s free to join but as always, please register before you first come along. 

National Cycling Championship Road Race | Saltburn Bank | 9am

The National Cycling Championship road races will begin and end on Saltburn Bank, challenging riders with steep gradients and tight hairpin bends. Both men and women will follow an 18.8km loop.

Women will complete seven laps, covering 132km, while men will take on 10 laps, totalling 189km. The route will pass through Skelton Castle, old mining sites in Kilton, and the coast of Saltburn.

The women’s race starts at 9am, followed by the men’s race at 1.30pm. The route covers various areas of Redcar and Cleveland.
