The boss praised his players for digging deep against a spirited Northallerton Town.
Redcar Athletic boss Carl Jarrett admitted he was proud of his players’ effort and determination, as victory over Northallerton marked the end of a tough patch of games.
The Steelmen eked out a 1-0 win at the Calvert’s Stadium thanks to an Oscar Fletcher goal, Jarrett perhaps displeased with the performance, but certainly not the mentality on display.
Three games in just six days – including the visit of then league-leaders Boro Rangers, and a trip to Carlisle – the Redcar boss was delighted to come away unscathed, and with all nine points.
Northallerton Town 0-1 Redcar Athletic
Oscar Fletcher volleyed Redcar Athletic to a third straight victory against a dogged Northallerton Town.
He argued this evening’s performance was far from perfect, but in the context of the season, three points were exactly that.
“It would have been easy for me to have gone into the dressing room and had a little dig at the performance.” He said.
“But I’ve done the opposite. I’ve gone in and told them how proud I am of them. We’ve played three games in the last six days, which has been hard.
“We’ve played the league-leaders in Boro Rangers, we’ve had to travel all the way through to Carlisle on a Tuesday, and then we’ve come to Northallerton, and it’s not the easiest place to come to on a Friday night.
“We’ve picked up nine points. That’s a huge thing for the lads. That’s what football is about. It’s about winning.
“I’m proud of the players for the effort that they’ve put into the club in the last seven days. I can’t ask for anymore at the minute.
“They’re all doing really, really well.”
