The Redcar boss heaped praise on hat-trick hero Oscar Fletcher.
Carl Jarrett hailed Oscar Fletcher as a ‘great asset for the club,’ as the young midfielder netted his first senior hat-trick in a resounding victory over Penrith.
The 19-year-old opened the scoring on the brink of the half in some fashion, completing his treble in a clinical second half showing.
Further goals from Bradley Fewster and Jack Blackford rounded out the scoring.
Redcar Athletic 5-0 Penrith
Our report as Oscar Fletcher’s treble dispels the curse of Penrith.
Perhaps the pick of the bunch from a near perfect performance, Carl Jarrett argued Oscar ‘deserved’ his hat-trick on the balance of play, praising his ability both on the ball, and out of possession.
“He’s a great player.” The boss said.
“We’re trying to teach him how to play in certain positions, instead of him running out of energy. He does a lot of running in certain areas, that sometimes he doesn’t have to do.
“Fair play to the kid, today, he’s got himself in the right positions, and to be fair, his finishes were excellent.
“The first one, to open his body up and put it in the top corner, and his second, where he’s volleyed it. Excellent.
“I just thought his overall play was good today as well. His passing, his touches. His defending.
“He’s a great kid, and he’ll be a great asset for this club going forward.
“He fully deserved that hat-trick today.”
