A five star Steelmen showing saw us put five past last season's play-off finalists
Another stunning day saw us travel to Warrington to take on one of the two sides based in the town, with the other travelling in the opposite direction as they faced Whitby.
In a very interesting set of results, both away sides ended up winning 5-0, with the only difference being that Warrington Town scored 4 in the first half and one in the second, whereas we scored 1 in the first half and 4 in the second.
No JJ Bartliff and Louis Johnson meant our starting squad needed a bit of shuffling, with Oscar Fletcher and Owen Burns both starting, with Adam Boyes and Andrei Ardelean also playing together up front.
The start did see a bit of sluggishness from the Steelmen, as we tried to find a pace to work at, with the hosts having several chances early on that luckily came to nothing.
We had a few opportunities as the minutes progressed, with shots from Andrei and Bosh both coming, and frustratingly going, with Warrington’s keeper producing a decent save to also tip away a Connor Smith strike.
However, we did grab the lead, as OScar played a ball between the Rylands defence, with the ball finding Bosh, who made no mistake, slipping a low shot into the net.
We began to push a lot harder after that goal, with the Rylands goalkeeper having to pull off another solid stop to push an Oscar Fletcher strike behind for a corner.
The last act of the half saw a deep free kick pumped forwards by Josh Mazfari, with the ball meeting Adam boyes who attempted to get the ball into the box via Andrei, who was ultimately deemed to be offside, ending the move, and seeing the half draw to a close soon after
A narrow lead, away from home, and with other teams around us all picking up points, it was a vital position to be in.
A change at he break saw Oscar come off after picking up a knock, with Brad Fewster coming on in his place.
Similarly to the match against Lancaster, it was a much better second-half performance from the Steelmen, as we bagged a second goal within the first five minutes of the restart.
A corner was worked into the box and struck at by Adam Boyes, with his attempt being pushed into the head of a defender by the keeper, with the ball instantly bouncing across the line in rather unfortunate circumstances for the hosts.
We kept going, with Warrington looking to have become a lot more passive. After a few vague chances, we did bag a third, as a pass out from the opposition goalkeeper was pounced on by Andrei, who ran forwards uncontested, allowing him to set himself up and place a shot into the net, giving him his first Steelmen goal of the season.
Within a minute of the restart we had another goal, and it came from Andrei again, as a long ball was nodded forwards by Adam Boyes, and a defensive mix-up allowed Andrei to pinch the ball and slip between two defenders before again placing his shot low into the net.
A quickfire double for Andrei, a quickfire third and fourth for the Steelmen; things were going great.
A solid block from Nathan Guru in defence proved we were still focused on the match, and with Luke Spalding and Curtis Round brought on, we kept pushing the Rylands defence.
Spalding’s pace was proving to be an issue for the hosts, and that issue turned into a fifth goal as he pounced on a loose ball that looked to trickle behind, with Luke playing that ball into the box where Boyes dummied it, and another defensive blip allowed Curtis Round to slip in, nab the ball, take a touch, and drive the ball into the net.
We picked up another three points, another clean sheet, and another win on the road, and there wasn’t much more you could have asked for!
