We took a look at Kendal Town and our trip to the Westmorland Flooring Stadium.
Redcar Athletic’s final push for the Northern League title continues in Cumbria this evening.
Carl Jarrett’s men face what he labelled their toughest test to come before the end of the season, a Tuesday night trip to the Westmorland Flooring Stadium, and Kendal Town.

WHO ARE YA?
Kendal Town
Formed in 1919, Kendal Town came to be when a group of employees at a Netherfield shoe factory were encouraged to form a football club, then simply named Netherfield AFC.
The employees were allocated land near the factory on Parkside Road – where the club still resides to this day – and offered to compete in local leagues.
The club claimed its first notable success in 1925, winning the Westmorland County Cup, then the Lancashire Combination Championship.
It was in the FA Cup where Netherfield truly carved their legacy, regularly taking the fight to professional, Football League opposition, and coming out on top.
Across FIVE First Round Proper appearances in just EIGHT years, Netherfield took on the likes of Barrow, Gateshead, Watford, Gainsborough Trinity and Grimsby Town, with some 40’000 people watching on from the sidelines.

In 1968, the club accepted a new challenge, opting to become founder members of the Northern Premier League.
Come the turn of the millennia, following the decline of shoemaking in the area, Netherfield adopted the name Kendal Town, which the club still sport to this day.
The Mintcakes have bounced between steps three and five on the footballing pyramid since their reinvention, flirting briefly with the possibility of a push for the National League.
CURRENT FORM

It’s no secret, Redcar Athletic are once again the form club in the Northern League.
High-scoring drubbings of Carlisle City, Marske United and West Allotment Celtic fired the Steelmen back to the top of the table, currently seven points clear, but having played more games.

Our Cumbrian counterparts, Kendal Town, flirt on the fringes of the play-offs ahead of this evening’s contest, one of coveted spots up for grabs should they complete the upset.
Their last outing was particularly emphatic, somewhat of a wobble set right with a six-one thrashing of West Allotment Celtic (sorry guys).
PREVIOUS HISTORY
It was Redcar Athletic’s job to welcome Kendal Town to the Northern League at the start of this season, the highly-anticipated curtain-opener far from a disappointment.
Mark Anderson opened the scoring, bending home from a dead ball before Bradley Fewster tripled the lead with a quick brace.
Jack Blackford added a fourth as the Steelmen took to the top of the table, a welcome sign of what was to come for the rest of the campaign.
TEAM NEWS
Carl Jarrett could be without a few key players this evening, with some tied to work on a midweek, and Mark Anderson suspended.
The midfielder was shown a straight red card against Birtley Town last weekend, charged with violent conduct, and will miss the next three games.

Kevin Burgess and Priestley Griffiths are likely to feature within the squad.
