Find out more about our North Riding Senior Cup quarterfinal.
The North Riding Senior Cup continues into the quarterfinals this evening, as Redcar Athletic host Boro Rangers in an unfortunately familiar tie at the B&D Interiors Stadium.
WHO ARE YA?
Boro Rangers
Formed in 2003, Boro Rangers have contested the senior footballing pyramid for as little as ten years.
In such time, the club have known nothing but success, seven straight North Riding Premier League titles brought to an end by a fairytale promotion, and a double one at that.
Division Two proved the briefest of stops for the Middlesbrough outfit. Rangers topped the league at the first time of asking, defeating title rivals Horden CW on the final day of the season to lift the coveted trophy.
Now plying their trade in Division One, the somewhat recently opened the doors to their new home on Lacy Road in Middlesbrough.
The ground boasts a £500’000, state-of-the-art 3G pitch, and also houses the well-esteemed T6 Academy, in which Redcar coach Dave McTiernan is heavily involved.
Known as Phoenix Park, the ground is the first to host Northern League football in Middlesbrough for over 100 years.
CURRENT FORM
Held to a frustrating stalemate at Millfield on Saturday, Redcar Athletic are now unbeaten in three games at the start of 2025, and yet to concede.
A two-goal victory over Guisborough Town was the last on home soil for the Steelmen, the goals scored by Oscar Fletcher and Mark Anderson.
Boro Rangers beat Birtley Town at the weekend, a necessary response to a disappointing defeat to Carlisle City, Redcar’s next opponents.
PREVIOUS HISTORY
Boro Rangers have found a mixed bag of success in three visits to the B&D Interiors Stadium.
The Middlesbrough-based outfit first came to Redcar in this competition last season, albeit at the semi-final stage.
A makeshift eleven met them on the field, the Steelmen ravaged by injury and cup-ties, and losing out by a five-goal margin.
Having then succumbed to a controversial defeat in the Northern League last season, the two sides met at the B&D Interiors Stadium in September for an early title-duel.
Goals from Adam Boyes and debutant Callum Guy saw the Steelmen leapfrog their Teesside counterparts, taking charge of top spot in the table with a game in hand.
TEAM NEWS
Unlike last time these two clubs met in the North Riding Senior Cup, Carl Jarrett will have all but a full squad at his disposal.
There are no players cup-tied in the competition, and only the one major injury concern in Bryan Taylor.
The South Shields loanee was withdrawn inside 20 minutes at Millfield at the weekend, when the extent of his injury was yet unknown.
