The Redcar boss offered his thoughts on our Northern League clash with Shildon.
Carl Jarrett says getting back to winning ways in the league is important after what he called ‘two little blips.’
The Steelmen beat Northallerton Town in the North Riding Senior Cup on Tuesday night, but are winless in two in the Northern League.
The Redcar boss admitted such disappointment was destined to happen during a long campaign, challenging his players to produce a fitting response against Shildon this Saturday.
Admittedly, such a feat won’t come without hard work. Carl Jarrett conceded the Railwaymen are a very good outfit, snatching a spot in the playoffs just last weekend after a poor start to the season.

He said: “Obviously, we’ve gotten our suspensions out of the way on Tuesday night. Danni (Lay) and Chay (Liddle).
“We’re looking at a strong squad for Saturday, going into the Shildon game.
“We have to be at our best to beat them. They’ve picked up of late in the past two months, and started to get points on the board. They’re in a playoff position now.
“Shildon will be a tough opposition. They’re a very good team, and Chris has them all working hard for each other.”
Four points clear at the top of the division, but winless in their last two, for Carl Jarrett, righting the wrongs of the West Auckland defeat is a must.
The boss put the bitter loss down to a ‘blip,’ arguing it was an inevitable inconvenience, but something that had to be addressed.
Jarrett said: “Obviously, we want to get back to winning ways in the league.”
“We’ve had two little blips. You’re always going to have a moment like that in the course of a season.
“We were never just going to go through and blast this league, there was always going to be obstacles in our way. If we don’t turn up against Shildon, and we don’t get things right, they’ll give us a good game.
“We need to make sure that we’re focused, and ready for a hard game on Saturday.
“It would be great to see a good crowd down here to get behind the lads, and hopefully we can get the three point that we want.”
