The First Team boss hailed a 'brilliant' performance from the former Whitby Town man.

Stealing the headlines on a triumphant return to action on the Redcar seafront, new man Bradley Fewster caught the eye of many with a sensational hat-trick against his former employer.

Making the switch from one seaside outfit to the other earlier this summer, Bard reaped high praise from his new boss, Carl Jarrett pleased with his link-up play and persistence, and his impact on the group.

Arriving at the club with little match fitness, Brad played but 45 minutes in his first three pre-season outings, opening his account with a neat brace on Thursday night against Billingham Town.

Leading the line against his former club, the forward put the match beyond their reach with a spectacular strike with true finesse, twice punishing Whitby  from close range to seal his treble.

Asked about Brad’s hat-trick, Jarrett labelled the forward as ‘brilliant,’ praising not only his contribution to the scoresheet, but his endeavour and persistence too.

The boss said: “Brad’s performance today, against his old club, he just never stopped working. He did all the dirty stuff, you know.

“I thought his all round play was excellent, especially his linking play.

“When we went to a three up top he worked hard on the right hand side. We know he does like a central role.

“When he went in there, to be fair, his first goal was just phenomenal. To come onto the ball with not even a touch, just to hit it. One touch, bang, goal.

“I’m over the moon for the kid.”

Bradley Fewster started alongside fellow forward Adam Boyes in attack, the boss keen to comment on the partnership the two could strike up, and ambitious about its effectiveness.

“We’re trying to lead the way with him and ‘Bosh’ together.” He said. “They haven’t played with each other before, but they do know each other personally away from football.”

“We’ve got two great strikers there, in the pair of them. If we can get a good partnership going there, I see a hundred plus goals just in them two!”

Despite Brad’s electric form over the last two fixtures, Carl Jarrett is still eager to manage an existing injury, the boss admitting his stints so far in pre-season had been limited, but that his rapid improvements were promising.

Brad is one of a number of players harbouring knocks picked up over the summer, and at the back end of last season, Jarrett keen to avoid a repeat of last season, and keep fitness levels high.

“We’ve only been playing him for like 45 and 45 because he had a little niggle when he first came in.” Jarrett said of Brad Fewster.

“He’s starting to look sharper, and his fitness is improving too.

“It’s starting to look really good for him.”
