Due to waterlogged pitches at both venues, both teams made the short trip to Northfield School, Billingham for the local derby.

Athletic made the better start and were one-nil up inside four minutes when Hannah Springell’s fine shot found the far corner of the net.

Farron McPherson then fired home on eleven minutes from the edge of the box, after fine work in the build up from Hannah.

An injury to Holly Lemanczyk meant a debut at the heart of the defence for Joanna Grey, who, after a nervy start, settled into the game and fared well.

Milly McNamee made it three on 19 minutes, with another shot from outside the box.

Athletic were knocking the ball around really well but had to be on their guard as Town won possession a couple of times in a sloppy ten minutes, but couldn’t convert their chances.

Another injury – this time to Chloe Copeland – saw Olivia Dalton enter the game.

Two goals in a minute just before halftime, Farron with her second and Olivia Bullock with her trademark goal, made the score five-nil at the break.

After the break, another fine move down the right saw Farron involved yet again to deliver a perfect cross for top scorer Amy Smith to head home at the back post.

Olivia Dalton then scored her first goal for the club on 59 minutes with a smart placed finish from the edge of the box to make it seven.

Deservedly, with seven minutes remaining, Farron completed the scoring with her first hat trick for the Ladies.

All at Redcar Athletic would like to wish the very best to Chloe Copeland, who made the trip to James Cook after the match due to her injury.

Player of the Match: Farron McPherson (sponsorship available)

Next weekend, the Ladies are back to Green Lane, hosting South Park Rangers Belles on Sunday 25th February.
