“Let’s raise a glass in memory of Dave.”
Redcar Athletic can confirm the annual Dave Peacock Memorial Cup charity match has been given a new date.
Pencilled for late December, poor weather put paid to the ever popular fundraising event, which will now take place on Sunday 5th May, at 2pm.

As many of you will recall, we sadly lost our friend and local grassroots football legend, Dave Peacock Snr, in 2022, and he is still hugely missed by all of us at the club.
You may also recall – or not be aware – that even whilst suffering with his own illness, Dave began a charity campaign, raising funds for an additional bladder scanner for the Radiotherapy Department at James Cook University Hospital.
The scanner would ensure vital treatment and diagnosis would not be impacted should the existing scanner be out of service.
After his passing, many of us at the club wanted to ensure that his wish to provide this much needed equipment was realised, and a number of events were organised.
Kev and Caron Fryett arranged a hugely successful Charity Dinner, and the junior section arranged a memorial game between our Senior Reserves team, and our Junior Coaches.
Together, these events raised over £10,000, and the scanner was donated early in 2023.

However, the club decided to carry on fund raising in Dave’s memory, and in 2023, raised over £1,700.
After the success of the memorial game, we are hosting what is now the ANNUAL Dave Peackock Snr. Memorial Cup on Sunday 5th May, with a 2pm kickoff.
On a great day last year, the Reserves ran out 5-2 winners in front of a staggeringly large and generous crowd, who raised over £1,500 – which was incredible.
We hope to get a bumper crowd along on the day once again. We have a superb raffle with some amazing prizes, food will be available, we have a live singer performing after the game, and the bar will stay open as long as people want a drink!
Every penny raised will go towards helping people suffering from cancer, so please come along, and dig deep, whilst also raising a glass in memory of Dave.
