The acting boss offered his thoughts on our resounding win against Carlisle City.
Acting manager Dave McTiernan labelled Redcar Athletic’s eight-goal thrashing of Carlisle City as ‘unbelievable.’
The assistant boss took the helm in the absence of Carl Jarrett for the visit of the Sky Blues, thrilled to see his players finally dispel goalmouth woes.
Redcar Athletic are now unbeaten in five games since the turn of the new year, yet until this afternoon, had struggled to find the net.
Oscar Fletcher opened the scoring, towering high to turn home Craig Gott’s corner delivery, before Adam Boyes teed up both Mark Anderson and Bradley Fewster.
The forward netted a brace of his own come the restart of play, as his former Marske United teammates Curtis Round and Craig Gott completed the rout.
For Dave McTiernan, this was a result long in the making. The assistant boss said his team were full of confidence, and that certainly showed on the pitch.
“That was unbelievable.” He said.

“We’ve been threatening that for a while with the performances we’ve been putting in. It’s a credit to the lads.
“It’s been a hard few weeks on and off the pitch. It’s nice to watch that type of football, and see what we’re capable of.
“It’s instilling the belief in the players that they can do it. They’ve been controlling games, just not sticking the ball in the back of the net.
“When chances go missing, we’ve been getting a bit frustrated. Just stay calm, keep the ball and it’ll fall for us.
“Boysie got his two goals for us today. He’s worked his socks off. From one to eighteen today, it was just brilliant!”

A rather over-looked facet of such a resounding victory comes at the back, as Josh Mazfari and Redcar’s defence claimed a fourth successive league clean sheet.
“I’ve just said at the end there, it’s alright taking about all the goals, but defensively we were brilliant.” Dave McTiernan added.
“Gott stepping into centre-half. Mazfari playing out from the back. Our style of play is complimented by our defence.
“How expansive we are when we go forward, we’ve got to be at our best on the transition. It’s a credit to the backline, and to Josh, for that!”
