The boss spoke to Dave Edler following a commanding win on opening day.
Carl Jarrett hailed a statement three points on opening day as Redcar Athletic won big at Blyth Spartans’ Croft Park.
Adam Boyes made the difference on the afternoon, slotting home a well-taken brace either side of the break.
Curtis Round and Bradley Fewster also made the scoresheet, as Mathew Slocombe added a consolation for the home side.
To no surprise, the boss was delighted to lay down such a statement in the club’s Pitching In Northern Premier League debut.
He praised his players’ attitude and performance, admitting he was delighted to win at what he labelled a tough hunting ground.
“It was a good three points for us today.” The boss began.
“I wasn’t really sure what to expect. We spoke before the game about just taking care of our own business, and the lads have done a great job of that today.
“I thought they all worked really, really hard. They scored some good goals and played some good football too.
“Their attitude was brilliant. It would have been easy to sit off when we were two-nil, three-nil up.
“It’s a hard place to come, Croft Park, and we’ve come away with the three points. I’m delighted.”
Despite the hefty scoreline, Redcar were perhaps upset to leave the field of play with only the four goals after ninety minutes.
Oscar Fletcher, Adam Boyes and Bradley Fewster all had chances go astray, with the boss’s only critique that his side didn’t tuck more of those golden opportunities away.
“I think we probably could have scored a couple more if I’m being critical.” He said.
“They scored a good goal. I think Oscar’s fallen over on the halfway line, but there’s three our four passes after that and they’ve scored a good goal from it.
“Looking at ourselves, we’ve played some good football today. Their attitude was great, and I’m happy to get three points to start off with.”
