The boss previews our Friday night bout with Northallerton Town.
Carl Jarrett says Northallerton Town will prove tough opposition in the first of six cup finals at the end of the Northern League season.
The Steelmen are currently three points clear of Shildon at the top of the table, but face arguably the tougher run-in with the title at stake.
Redcar Athletic have twice faced Northallerton Town this season, both games much tougher than the scoreline perhaps suggests.
Oscar Fletcher snatched the winner when the two sides met in the league at the Calvert’s Stadium, whilst a nine-goal thriller saw the Steelmen progress in the North Riding Senior Cup.
Town have ground out some impressive results of late, and for Carl Jarrett, they are a side which shouldn’t be underestimated ahead of a Friday night visit to the B&D Interiors Stadium.
“I’m looking forward to the Northallerton game.” He said.
“It’s a Friday night, at home. Hopefully we can get a bumper crowd at Green Lane to get behind us and cheer the lads on.
“It will be interesting, because Northallerton are a hard team to grind down. We’ve played them twice this year: once in the cup, and obviously once in the league.
“I know we have won them both, but they’ve been very difficult games. We won’t be taking them lightly.
“We know this is a must-win game. As are all of the remaining games that we’re playing in. This is a cup final. We need to get these three points in the bag.
“We’ve been very good at home, so we’ve got to be confident. I don’t think we’ve been beaten this year at home. We want to try and keep that good run of form going.
“Fingers crossed, we can give everyone something to cheer about, and get the three points that we need.”
