The referee made the call to abandon the match after a medical incident on field.
Middlesbrough Women graced the hallowed turf of Green Lane for the second time this season yesterday evening, hosting York City Ladies in the FAWNL Division One North.
The match was cut short by the officials in the 72nd minute following an incident on field, and the thoughts of all at Redcar Athletic go out to the player involved.
A tight first half, Boro Women held the lead when Lauren Robson picked out the top corner from deep in the midfield.
The forward bagged herself a brace when play resumed, following in off the post, before Sharna Wilkinson opened her account for the club with a delightful curling effort.
Play was halted in the 72nd minute following a medical incident on field, and the players returned to the dressing rooms, where the match was eventually curtailed.
Further information regarding the result, or a potential replay, will be communicated by Boro Women in due time.
