Mason McNeill becomes the second Redcar man in the hot seat for our 2023/24 series of Ask the Steelmen.

Popular in last season’s matchday programme, Ask the Steelmen is back for the 2023/24 campaign.

In this series, members of the playing squad are put through their paces by YOU, as questions submitted by fans and footballers alike drive what can only be described as an abnormal interview.

The second Steelman elected to face the wrath of the fans, Mason McNeill follows in the footsteps of his left-sided counterpart, Joe Thompson.

A tenacious midfielder masquerading as a marauding fullback, Mason finds himself an integral part of Gary Forster’s strongest side.

The 28-year-old nailed down his place with both explosive pace and audacious composure, contributing to Redcar’s fruitful attack with an admirable five assists this season.

Programme Editor and Media Officer Ash Stone put YOUR questions to the attacking fullback, from the wild and wacky, to the thoughtful an intuitive…

What is your favourite TV show?

24 Hours in Police Custody.

What is your favourite place to eat?

Fellini’s. Best steak and peppercorn sauce there is.

What is your favourite cereal?

Weetabix, Crispy Minis.

Describe, in detail, your absolute favourite sausage sandwich.

White soft bun with lurpak butter, with sausages, well done in the air fryer and no sauce for me. Dry as a bone.

How long do you think you would survive in a zombie apocalypse?

I’d last as long as the cockroaches.

McDonalds or Burger King?

Burger King, because after a McDonalds you burp and you’re hungry again.

What has happened to your hairline?

Hahaha, don’t have kids.

Who cuts your hair?

Rivers Barbers, sharpest barber there is, as you can tell from mine.

Who in the squad is the loudest?

Got to be Thompo, the kid is mental. Just sits and barks at himself in the changies.

Who is the best player you’ve played with?

Got to be Bryn Morris.

How good is Oscar Fletcher?

Oscar Fletcher is actually the GOAT!

Would you rather score a last minute winner, or make a last minute, game-winning tackle?

Last minute winner, definitely.

Finally, who would you nominate to face the wrath of the fans next?

Let’s leave that up to the fans.
