A statistical look at Redcar Athletic’s 2023/24 top scorer.
With 14 goals in just 17 appearances, Adam Boyes was crowned the Steelmen’s top scorer for the outgoing season.
In honour of the former Emirates FA Cup Golden Ball winner’s clinical form, we took a look back at his four month stay, and the staggering numbers that came with it.

Adam Boyes
Striker
Signed in January during a managerial takeover, Adam Boyes made his Steelmen debut at the Calvert Stadium, against a then struggling Northallerton Town.
The number nine scored the lone goal on the evening, opening his tally in red and navy after a mere 38 minutes, turning home an inch perfect cross from strike partner Curtis Round.

Following the quick start to his Redcar career, Boyes averaged a goal every 111 minutes, netting 14 times across his 17 appearances.
Goalgetting wasn’t the only merit of the forward’s talismanic play, ending the season with 4 assists to his name, and thus responsible for 45% of all goals scored under the reign of Carl Jarrett.
18 goal contributions, Boyes had a hand in a goal roughly every 87 minutes, a rate which would have produced 41 goals should he have started every game in a 38 match season.

In particular, Boyes shared a positive link up with Curtis Round, a familiar face from his stint at Marske United.
The pair were responsible for 21 of the Steelmen’s 31 goals during the tenure of Carl Jarrett, directly combining 6 times.
Harbouring a hamstring injury towards the tail end of the campaign, Boyes still closed out the season with a tidy lob against Newcastle Benfield, the forward responsible for the first and last goal of Jarrett’s reign to date.
