Match report: Eston Labour Club 4-2 Redcar Athletic Under-23s

Mark Hathaway
Redcar Athletic Under-23s coach
The under 23s suffered a bitterly disappointing 4-2 defeat on Sunday morning against Eston Labour Club.
Redcar didn’t start well on a heavy pitch and found themselves 3-0 down after 20 minutes. Substitutions and a change in formation worked well and, on 28 minutes, Redcar found a way back into the game when Tom Newton, sponsored by Nails by Caitlin, was fouled in the box and the striker stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot.
Redcar were awarded another penalty early in the second half when Lewis Barwick, sponsored by Tilli Capelli hairdressers, was fouled in the box and Jack Marshall stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way. At this point it looked as if Redcar would go on to win the game but they were caught in the break late on chasing the game as Eston scored a 4th and decisive goal.
Man of the Match for Redcar was Jack Williams, sponsored by Me Sign.
Next up is a home game against New Marske Sports Club next Sunday, kick off 10.30am.
