The last meeting of us and Silsden was definitely something, with the Steelmen coming away 10–1 winners. But it has been a while since then, and who knows what will happen.

In the time between that 10-1 win and now, both us and Silsden have had some runs of form, with the latter even seeing their manager pick up October’s manager of the month award for Step 4 (an award he beat Carl Jarrett too).

Knocked out of the FA Trophy by Stocksbridge Park Steels on penalties, the Cobbydalers league form has been a mixed bag, with heavy defeats to Garforth and North Ferriby being accompanied by wins against Bishop Auckland, Grimsby Borough and Newton Aycliffe.

There have also been 7 draws for the side, the 3rd highest total in the league.

Now sat in 15th, but just 2 points clear of the drop, they are still in a slightly precarious situation, with home matches against us and Brighouse sandwiching 3 away trips to North Ferriby, Consett and Pontefract.

Their home form, however, has been spotty, with the side picking up just 2 league wins at their ground so far.

Seemingly, Silsden have not fully recovered from the 10-1 defeat, with their -15 goal difference being an anomaly amidst the other teams around them in the league

It isn’t all bad though, as Lincoln, Ashington and both Blyth sides do all have worse goal differences, with Silsden having scored 22 goals this season.

They have actually netted more than North Ferriby as well, and are 2 goals shy of matching 6th placed Bridlington Town’s tally.

Promoted last season, along with Hallam FC, they definitely could have had a worse start to their season, and surely, the only way for them is up.

Great support & a great squad. (Photo by Chris Whiles)

As for us, it’s all sunshine (when it isn’t raining).

Our form has been remarkable, with our last 10 games showing 9 wins and a single loss, with 35 goals scored in that time frame too

Having conceded 8 in those 10 as well, it is clear that our talents aren’t just up front, but also at the back, with our front 3 being joined by Kev Burgess in our player of the month vote.

I learnt a long time ago to never believe predictions…but the predicted final league table for our league has us sat on 113 points, with the Steelmen drawing 2 and losing none.

It also says we finish on a +117 GD, scoring 145. But if that actually happens, then I think we automatically become the best team in the country.

After that Silsden game, we have a cup match vs Richmond and then a league match vs Consett, both taking place at the Hollou, before and then a trip to Heaton Stannington just before the Christmas fixtures.

Adam Boyes is still top of the Step 4 top scorers charts, though he is being approached, with Albie Hall of Barton Rovers now just a goal behind him

Overall, though, things are going quite nicely for us…but it could always be better

Hopefully, I will see you at Silsden, but if you aren’t able to make it, then there will be live updates on our Twitter/X page.

Take care, and up the Steelmen!
