The Redcar boss looks ahead to our Tuesday night action on the Tyneside coast.

Carl Jarrett says Tuesday night’s trip to Hillheads Park is about building momentum after a strong start to the new year on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Oscar Fletcher and Mark Anderson fired the Steelmen to victory over Guisborough Town in a performance he deemed to echo that of the Redcar of old.

The boss argued that the result meant little alone, pleading with his players to build on their derby day triumph against Whitley Bay on Tuesday evening.

“That’s the idea.” He said.

“We’ve got a few little knocks that I’m going to have to have a little look at in Cal (Guy) and Danni (Lay). I need to asses the squad.

“It’ll be great to get the game on. I know Whitley Bay’s game was off at the weekend. I don’t know if it was a frozen pitch or if it was waterlogged.

“It would be great to keep us going, and keep our momentum. That’s what we want to try and create, having games week in, week out. That’s why you come to the football at the end of the day.”

Whitley Bay have played only the once since the turn of the year, much like ourselves, with their game at Hillheads Park this weekend scrapped due to a frozen pitch.

With a fortunate forecast in our favour, the boss stressed the need for confidence. He noted Redcar Athletic were back to the top of the league, and had to perform like it.

“We’ve got to go into Tuesday night’s game with confidence.” Jarrett said.

“We are sat top of the league, but Whitley Bay will be a tricky game away on a night.

“I think the lads are up for it. We’ve had a good few words at training, speaking about what’s been going on in the last six weeks.

“The lads have stuck together, and on Saturday, I think they showed the class that we’ve got.”
