Jarrett talks back-to-back defeats ahead of Whitley Bay clash

The boss offered his thoughts on our return to Northern League action.

Carl Jarrett branded back-to-back league defeats ‘a small bump in the road’ ahead of Saturday’s trip to Hillheads Park to take on Whitley Bay.

The Seahorses currently sit in the middle of the pack, unbeaten since October, and undoubtably share the desire of most of the Northern League to beat Jarrett’s table-topping Steelmen.

Out of action since a defeat to West Auckland Town last Tuesday, Redcar Athletic begin the second half of their league campaign in Northumberland this weekend.

On coming face-to-face with the Bay, Redcar boss Carl Jarrett admitted there was a drive to beat the league-leaders around the division, a tough game awaits at Hillheads Park.

He said: “Every game you play in this league is a tough game. Especially where we are.”

“You have to remember, no matter how disappointed we are with our last two league games and what happened to us, we’re still sat at the top four points clear.

“Every single team that’s either coming to Redcar, or we’re going to them, they know exactly what they’re going to try and do to us.

“They’re going to put up a good fight. That’s one thing that they all can do.”

Redcar Athletic have this month been beaten by Easington Colliery and West Auckland Town in the league, yet to score a point to complement a historic Isuzu FA Vase victory.

Keen to leave such struggles behind, Jarrett labelled the defeats as a ‘small bump in the road,’ hoping for better fortunes against the Seahorses this weekend.

“We’ve had some great results and we’ve played really well up to now.” He said.

“This is just a little bump in the road that we’ve hit at the present minute. Fingers crossed, we can get back on track with three points against Whitley Bay.”
