“I’ve come here to win it again.”
From a Wembley appearance to the Northern League title, James Risbrough joins the ranks of Carl Jarrett’s Steelmen with vast experience to boot.
Now ready to take the next step in his illustrious career at Green Lane, he told Head of Media Ash Stone that he’s here to win. It’s as ‘simple as that.’
Tall, agile, and certainly well travelled, James Risbrough brings to the Steelmen a wealth of experience, from top northern clubs such as Spennymoor and Stockton, to a spell in the professional pyramid over in Sweden.
Quizzed on what brought his extensive footballing career to the Redcar seafront, the fullback cited the opportunity to reunite with Carl Jarrett, who he worked with at Marske United almost ten years ago.
“I worked with Carl right at the beginning of my footballing career.” James said.
“After seeing the plans for Redcar, and having the chance to work with Carl again, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
“I’ve known Carl for a long time. I know what he demands, and he knows what I’ll bring to the group.”
Part of the Bishop Auckland side which raised the title at Green Lane but seven weeks ago, James described the feeling as surreal, and shared ambitions to repeat the feat here in the red and navy.
“I’ve come here to win it again.” He said. “Simple as that.”
“Honestly, the feeling on the night at Benfield when we officially done it was one I’ll never forget.
“It was two years in the making, and we did it with a group of lads who became very close, so it was even more special.
“Looking back, it’s also nice that we got the trophy at Green Lane, so maybe that could happen again next year.”
