The young fullback expressed confidence in Redcar’s ability ahead of North Shields trip.
Olly Cann believes the Steelmen are tough to compete with at their best, saying he and his teammates are determined to win each and every match.
The young fullback quickly rose to favour having put pen to paper in July, admitting the welcoming nature of all at Redcar Athletic helped him to hit the ground running.
WARM-UP TOPS
Our training gear is now in stock on our official club shop.
Impressing as a trialist in the early stages of pre-season, Olly pencilled a permanent deal as the seventh addition of a busy summer window, since nailing down a place in Carl Jarrett’s first team.
Three assists to his name – but yet to score – the 20-year-old said the quality of those around him helps to bring out his best.
“I’ve loved my first few months as a Redcar player.” He said. “I think it helps with all the lads, and just how welcoming they’ve all been.”
“It’s helped me get back to my best, with these players around me, and hopefully I can start to kick on now.”
Dropping back from championship leaders Boro Rangers at the weekend – having shared the spoils with Blyth Town – Olly noted that Wednesday’s trip to the Daren Persson Stadium is ‘massive.’
He confessed North Shields would prove another ‘tough’ test for Steelmen, but one they most certainly had the talent to overcome.
“Even though we did drop points this weekend, it’s a massive game for us tomorrow.” Ollie added. “Absolutely massive.”
“As a group, we want to win every game. Even when we’re not at our best, or we don’t have the best of starts, we know we can always get a point, and not lose.
“That’s our mentality. We know that we can win every game, and that’s what we all want to do as a squad.”
“It’ll be tough.” Olly said of North Shields.
“They had a good result at the weekend against Shildon, so they’ll come into it with high spirits against us.
“Every game is competitive, but when we’re at our best, I don’t think anyone can really compete with us.”
