The Redcar boss looks ahead to Saturday's Preliminary Round tie.
Redcar Athletic Manager Carl Jarrett branded Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup bout with Pontefract Collieries a ‘physical’ battle, asking his players to roll up their sleeves and ‘fight for the club.’
The Steelmen travel to the Hunters Stadium in the Preliminary Round of this year’s Emirates FA Cup, a ground the boss knows all too well from his days at Mount Pleasant.

Putting Consett to the sword in an emphatic 60 minute showing at the Belle View Stadium, Redcar Athletic this weekend are offered the opportunity to make history.
The club have never passed the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup in their short history, crashing out in the Extra-Preliminary Round on their last two attempts, whilst losing to Seaham Red Star in 2021.
Northern Premier League East side Pontefract Collieries a worthy opponent in their way, Carl Jarrett branded the match a ‘physical’ contest, telling Ash Stone the Steelmen may struggle to fuel the ‘fluent football’ fans have come to expect.
Redcar Athletic 3-2 Consett
Redcar Athletic beat another Northern Premier League East outfit, Consett, to reach the Preliminary Round.

“Well, obviously, from my Marske days I know Pontefact (Collieries).” He said. “I’ve played against Pontefract maybe 15 or 16 times. I know quite a lot about them.”
“I know it’s changed in the last two years, but I have looked at the personnel that they’ve got, and there’s maybe eight or nine lads that were there last time I played against them.
“I have had them watched, and I know what we’re in for. It’s going to be a very hard, physical game.
“I know the pitch, it’s not like ours. It’s going to be tough for us to try and play our fluent football. It’s going to be one of those games where we’re going to have to roll our sleeves up, and fight for the club.”

On concerns over a number of absences through injury, Jarrett added: “We’ll have a full squad, hopefully. We’ve got ‘Munchie’ coming back.”
“Brad might be able to make it, he was in the warm up on Tuesday night. It’s maybe a bit too much for (Craig) Gott at the minute.
“Hopefully, fingers crossed, Jack’s alright too. He came off with a bit of a hamstring strain on Tuesday night. He’s been icing it.
“It’s the (Emirates) FA Cup.” He continued. “You want to play in it.”
“It takes your mind off the league. It’ll be a good away day for the lads, and all the fans that travel down there.
“We’ll give it our best shot, and if it works, then it works. One thing I can promise, is that we’ll try our hardest.”
