Redcar Athletic Under-23s continued their push for promotion with an entertaining 4-3 win at a bitter Green Lane.

Athletic took the lead on 16 minutes when Matty Bage was fouled near the byline and Ste Sullivan scored with a delightful free kick from a narrow angle.

The away side equalised on 26 minutes when a defensive mistake gave the Lingfield attacker a simple finish.

As half time approached, Athletic retook the lead when Jack Williams played a great ball to Tom Newton, who delivered a cross to the back post where David Bradley was on hand to finish.

Redcar made it 3-1 early in the second half, with a replica of the second goal. Matty Bage played a lovely ball down the line to Tom Newton, who crossed to the back post, where David Bradley was on hand again to grab his second of the game.

It could have been 4-1 on 57 minutes when a David Bradley cross found Matty Bage, who saw his shot hit the post.

Tom Newton had chances on 68 and 69 minutes but both times the Lingfield keeper made excellent saves.

As the game entered the last 10 minutes, Lingfield pulled a goal back to make it a nervy end to the game.

However, Ste Sullivan set up Tom Newton in the 89th minute to make it 4-2.

There was still time for Lingfield to score again, in the second minute of injury time, but Redcar saw out the remaining four minutes of injury time, retaining possession well, to secure a crucial win.
