The Three Lions’ Euro 2024 progression puts paid to midweek outing.
Redcar Athletic can confirm Wednesday night’s pre-season bout with Stockton Town has been cancelled.
The Anchors were due to host the match at the MAP Group UK Stadium at 7:45pm, but have since called off the affair due to the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 progression.
Gareth Southgate’s England ran out 5-3 victors in a quarter-final penalty shootout against Switzerland, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decisive spot kick setting up a final four date with the Netherlands in Dortmund.
In the interest of avoiding a clash, both the Steelmen and Stockton Town agreed to forgo the scheduled pre-season bout, with details of a replacement fixture soon to follow.
Instead, fans of the Three Lions can watch the momentous occasion from Green Lane, in the unique atmosphere of a teepee.
We hope to see a number of familiar faces on the Redcar seafront to cheer on the home nation.
