The Northern Premier League East side will host the Preliminary Round tie.

Redcar Athletic are set to face Pontefract Collieries at The Hunters Stadium in the Preliminary Round of this year’s Emirates FA Cup qualifying competition.

The tie is to take place on Saturday 17th August, with the club’s scheduled Northern League bout against Carlisle City moved to a later date.

Perhaps the biggest match in the history of Redcar Athletic, a trip to Pontefract Collieries proves just reward for Saturday’s historic Extra-Preliminary Round upset at Consett’s Belle View Stadium.

The Steelmen staved off a late resurgence from the hosts to equal their record-best run in the competition, now set to face another Northern Premier League side for a place in the First Qualifying Round.

Proud to see the club advance in the nation’s most prestigious cup competition, Assistant boss Dave McTiernan offered an ambitious take, confessing Pontefract would prove a difficult hurdle, but not one his players weren’t equipped to overcome.

“Pontefract? They’re a good side.” He said.

“Again, another team from the league above.

“Me and Carl know them well from our Marske days, so they’ll be organised, hard to beat.

“The form we’re in, we’re happy to play anyone.

“It’s the (Emirates) FA Cup, and we’ll back ourselves against anybody.”

Redcar Athletic will now travel to Carlisle City’s Gillford Park on Tuesday 1st October, the action due to get underway at the later time of 7:45pm.
