Redcar Athletic are appealing for donations in the countdown to Christmas.

For our upcoming derby game against Guisborough, we are appealing to those attending the match at Green Lane to help us with one important task: collecting donations for those in need this Christmas.

Christmas is a time of giving, and we as a football club acknowledge that too many people go without the festive gifts you see distributed to and fro around this time in the calendar.

That’s why we’re asking people to bring with them any toys and/or chocolates you have lying around the house. Perhaps you have a little one that has grown out of their LEGO set? Or you bought one too many selection boxes?

We are determined to keep up our efforts challenging the difficulties people face day-to-day, and giving what is needed to those who need it.

Redcar Athletic board member John Wilberforce, who has fronted a lot of the club’s foodbank and donation campaigns said: “No children should be without toys and chocolates at Christmas.

“I’d like you to try to imagine what that’d be like, for you or your children, if you can.

“We did a similar collection last year and it was wonderful and it made a real difference to lots of people’s lives. So make sure to bring something along if you can afford to do so.”

You can pop any donations into the clubhouse or the Steelmen’s Bar. Alternatively, if you cannot attend the game, Rita’s are kindly offering to take in any donations on our behalf. They are located opposite Redcar Beacon on the corner, 1 Esplanade, TS10 3AA.

We hope to see you there – toy in one hand, selection box in the other, and a red and navy scarf to complete the ensemble.

Up the Steelmen!

Friday Night Football at Green Lane

Weather permitting, the Steelmen are in league action against close rivals Guisborough Town this Friday night as they look to mark their first fixture of the festive period with a valuable three points.

Redcar’s last win against the Priorymen came last season, when Sonni Coleman – then donning a Redcar Athletic shirt – headed home to separate the two sides on Non League Day. Coleman will visit TS10 on the opposing side this time following his move to Guisborough from Redcar.

Entry into Green Lane for this one is, as always, £7 for adults, £4 for concessions, and £2 for under-16’s.

You can buy on the turnstile before the game, or you can purchase a ticket online here.
