This crucial promotion battle went the way of Rudds Arms, who deservedly secured a comfortable victory to get to within three points of Redcar Athletic.

David Bradley had an early shot saved by the Rudds keeper, before a defensive error allowed the hosts to take the lead.

Redcar’s rhythm was disrupted by three injuries in the first 28 minutes, meaning changes in both personnel and formation.

An excellent long range strike on 30 minutes doubled Rudds lead, before Redcar came close to halving the deficit when an excellent through ball from Ollie Goldsmith sent David Bradley clear. The striker held off a defender, but saw his shot clip the top of the bar.

The second half saw Redcar have plenty of possession without testing the Rudds keeper, and it was 3-0 on 62 minutes when a defensive error allowed for a simple finish.

Cam Thomson stung the palms of the Rudds keeper, who saw the game out with ease.

Redcar remain in second place in the table.
