Match report: Redcar Athletic Under-23s 6-0 New Marske Sports Club

Mark Hathaway
Redcar Athletic Under-23s coach
The Under-23s returned to the promotion places with a comprehensive 6-0 victory against New Marske Sports Club.
The away side got off to a good start and only a good save by Emrah Isik (sponsored by John Ibinson) and a goal line clearance from Ollie Goldsmith kept the scores level.
As the game went past the half hour mark, Redcar took the lead when a defence splitting pass from Jack Marshall sent Tom Newton (sponsored by Nails by Caitlin) clear and he finished coolly. It was 2-0 just minutes later and it was that man Newton again, with another neat finish. The best was yet to come and Newton completed a 7 minute hat trick with a remarkable overhead kick from a Matty Bage corner.
The home side made a number of changes at half time but continued to dominate. It was 4-0 on 47 minutes when Cam Thomson went on superb solo run and finished brilliantly. Redcar made it 5-0 when David Bradley curled a first time shot into the top corner. The home side made it 6-0 with yet another excellent finish, this time a low shot from 25 yards from Lewis Barwick (sponsored by Tilli Capelli hairdressers).
Man of the Match went to Tom Newton, sponsored by Nails by Caitlin.
Next up for Redcar Athletic Under-23s is a local derby at home to Redcar CF, with a 10.30am kick off.
