The First Team boss offered his thoughts on a goalless draw at Millfield.
Carl Jarrett bemoaned poor finishing in a ‘frustrating’ stalemate at Crook Town’s Millfield Ground.
The Steelmen dominated play ‘from start to finish,’ yet failed to get a point on the board in a underwhelming goalless draw.
For the Redcar boss, it’s a worrying trend given how tight the title fight has become at the top of the Northern League.
Jarrett praised his side for their recent performances, and their creativity, but was left ‘frustrated’ with an inability to turn such play into goals.
“The word I’d use to sum up the game is frustrating, really.” He said.
“We dominated play from start to finish, but we couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. We created enough chances to win the game easily. Especially in the first half, when we were very good.
“Everything was there apart from the finishing touch.
“When you watch the games, and you see how well we’ve played, creating so many chances, it’s frustrating.
“You’ve got the be able to stick the ball away, and that’s what we’re lacking at the present minute.”
Late opportunities for Crook Town to snatch the spoils offered Carl Jarrett’s men a stern reminder of the importance of finding a goal.
The boss argued Redcar should perhaps have been punished in the dying embers, but for a little bit of Josh Mazfari magic.
“Fair play to Crook. It was one of them where it could have went their way at the end. They had a great chance to win it, and Josh has made the save.
“When you don’t kill teams off, and it’s very tight at the end, it opens up the game.
“I said to the lads, we have to take our chances. To kill the game off early doors will give us the chance to be patient in our build-up.“
It isn’t all doom and gloom, though, and Carl Jarrett certainly reflected that.
To end on a positive, the boss said: “When you think about it, we’ve got seven points from nine in our last three games. Two of them away.
“And it’s another clean sheet, which the lads are happy about.
“We’re winning, we’re picking up points and we’re still top of the table. I can’t grumble at that.”
