Acting Chairman Kevin Fryett penned the following address to supporters.

“This Saturday will be the biggest game in the club’s history, and I believe in the history of football in Redcar.

“Twenty three years ago, we set out on a dream to bring adult football to Redcar with the aim of playing at the highest level possible.

“The pitch was still a farmers field and our first Manager in senior football (Nobby O’Brien) assembled a side to play in the Teesside League and promotion to the Wearside League quickly followed, along with a new ground funded by the Football Foundation.

“Along the way we have had many managers and without them we would not have made it this far. We owe each and every one of them so much for all of their hard work, dedication and commitment.

“Our thank you to them will not be any bigger than promotion to the Northern Premier League East, because they have been a big part of the process and contributed so much.

“So onto Saturday. The visitors are Blyth Town – another fantastic football club. It’s a 3pm kick-off at the B&D Interiors Stadium on Green Lane (Redcar TS10 3RW).

“Blyth sit in third place, with a spot in the league play offs guaranteed, and will prove very tough opposition.

“We would like to ask you to share this with your family, your friends – in fact everyone you can! Please – help us to get a massive backing for the team. This is not only history for Redcar Athletic Football Club but history for the Redcar community.

Let’s make Redcar proud on Saturday. Let’s shout it out from the rooftops and let’s get behind the team – and show them how much it means to this wonderful town.

“It really does make a massive difference to the players when they see the town of Redcar coming out and getting behind them and there can be no more bigger incentive than promotion to the Northern Premier League East.

“It would see us welcoming some big teams, such as Blyth Spartans and Bradford Park Avenue to Green Lane, in Step Four of the National League System.

Just three promotions from the National League – not too bad for a small club in Redcar, and amazing progress from that farmer’s field.

“Get behind us, please. Help make our dreams come true. The support we have had this season has been absolutely amazing and together we can do this. We just need one more big push from us all.”
