North Ferriby (H) – Match Preview

We are back to it on Saturday...hopefully. As long as the weather doesn't mess up plans for a second week in a row, we will be hosting North Ferriby.

The newest team in the league, North Ferriby were founded following the dissolving of North Ferriby United, and were sent down to the Northern Counties East League for their first campaign.

Back to back promotions saw the Villagers climb to the league they’re in today.

Since reaching step 4, North Ferriby have finished each campaign in 8th…and you’ll never guess where they are right now

That’s right! 7th!

Level on points with 8th placed Grimsby Borough.

Manager Chris Bolder took the reins at North Ferriby United in 2017, and remained with the club even after their dissolution and resurrection, being a key component in their rise.

Their recent form is frankly something to marvel at, with their last 5 matches all ending in a draw.

Before that though, is a truly frightening run that has seen the side beat Matlock, B.P.A., Garforth, and Silsden on a league unbeaten run that stretches back to August.

In fact, they have only suffered 2 league defeats this season, one to Bridlington and the other to Dunston on their opening league match.

We have already faced North Ferriby once this season, at home again where we beat them 2-0 in an FA Cup qualifier, thanks to goals from Oscar Fletcher and Bradley Fewster

Hopefully, we get a similar, or better result on Saturday…and hopefully with fewer red cards than the last meeting too.

Normally for us, I would be able to tell you about the updates to our stats following our last match.

For hopefully obvious reasons, I can’t exactly do that this time.

What I can tell you is that Adam Boyes is still Step 4’s highest goalscorer, clear of 2nd place by 4 goals

The rest of this month involves just one other match, where, on the 29th, we travel up to Blyth Town, meaning the month ends with 1st visiting 22nd (First vs last)

As for the match on Saturday, the one intriguing aspect is that North Ferriby are sat on the highest number of draws in the league (9), whereas we have the lowest tally (0). However, unlike the Bradford game where one of us would suffer a damaging blow to our record, this match does not hold that much weight…in terms of drawing at least.

As a league match, it is still vital to get all three points.

Our North Riding Senior Cup date has been set, with us facing Richmond Town on the 10th of December

Our re-organised match aginst Brighouse has also been sorted, and that is set for the 3rd of December

Meaning we start next month off with 2 midweek matches, sandwiching a trip to Silsden

If there was ever a time to wrap up warm, it is now. I’m still going to be at those games though

I should probably try to find some gloves that let me use my phone as well…

Anyway.
