We took a look at Carlisle City in our latest Match Preview.
Redcar Athletic will look to continue a winning start to 2025 this afternoon, as the Sky Blues of Carlisle City come to the B&D Interiors Stadium.
The Cumbrians boast a good record here in Redcar, taking four points from a possible six on their last two visits.

WHO ARE YA?
Carlisle City
Nicknamed ‘The Sky Blues,’ Carlisle City were formed in 1975 by former Carlisle United players George Walker and Ron Thompson, who wanted to provide a place for the ‘local lads’ to play.
Initially members of the Northern Football Alliance, City left to join the Northern Combination in 1987, after finishing bottom of the league in the 1986–87 season.
However, at the end of the following season – 1987–88 – the Combination merged into the Northern Alliance, with Carlisle rejoining to become one of the founding members of the new Division One.

In terms of honours, Carlisle City were crowned Northern Alliance Division One champions in 1991-92, and most recently gained promotion to the Ebac Northern League Division One after clinching the Division Two title in 2021-22.
DID YOU KNOW: Carlisle City’s record attendance is 708 in a friendly against near-neighbours Carlisle United on 8th July 2017.
CURRENT FORM

Not only do Carlisle City have a brilliant record against the Steelmen, but they’re actually in red hot form.
The Sky Blues turned over North Shields at the weekend – who admittedly will have put their focus on this afternoon’s Isuzu FA Vase tie – having beaten Boro Rangers just a week earlier.
Their last defeat came in the Cumbrian derby against Penrith.

The form guide is looking much better for Redcar Athletic too, albeit, hiding a strange inability to find the back of the net.
A lone Bradley Fewster goal sent Tuesday’s North Riding Senior Cup tie with Boro Rangers to penalties, where all five were converted flawlessly.
May it be the start of a new trend, and long may it continue.
PREVIOUS HISTORY
Carlisle City have a history of frustrating the Steelmen here at the B&D Interiors Stadium since their promotion to Division One.
Donny Holdsworth opened the scoring for the Steelmen almost to this day two years ago, his effort cancelled out in stoppage time to see the spoils shared evenly.
The Sky Blues fought ‘tooth and nail’ for even more on their last visit, a rare goal from now boss Dan Kirkup condemning Redcar to defeat.
TEAM NEWS
In perhaps the biggest change from Tuesday night’s North Riding Senior Cup success, Dave McTiernan will take charge of the Steelmen this afternoon.
The Assistant Manager takes the helm in the absence of Carl Jarrett, blessed with all but a full cohort at his disposal.

Callum Guy and Joe Taylor both picked up injuries against Boro Rangers.
The fullback was taken off the field of play as a precaution, and is likely to feature to some extent this afternoon, whilst ‘Guysa’ is a doubt having been forced to play until the end.
