Redcar Athletic make major statement with long-term management commitment

We are thrilled to announce a huge statement of intent as we secure the futures of First Team Manager Carl Jarrett and Assistant Manager Dave McTiernan on new five-year deals.

In what represents a landmark moment for the club, the long-term commitment of two outstanding leaders underlines the board’s unwavering belief in the project, the progress made, and the exciting future ahead.

This news comes on the back of a truly remarkable period, with Jarrett and McTiernan delivering back-to-back promotions and leading the club on an unforgettable run to the semi-finals of the Northern Cup, which put the club firmly on the map.

Since their arrival, the duo have transformed the club’s identity, built a driven and competitive squad, and reignited a powerful connection with supporters. Their leadership has become the cornerstone of the club’s success, and now, its future is secured.

The club is also delighted to confirm that Paul Franklin from the coaching staff will continue in his role, bringing invaluable experience, consistency, and leadership behind the scenes.

A further boost to the coaching staff will see Kev Burgess be given a player/coach role as we look to add more knowledge and talent to our backroom, as we look to succeed in Step 3, with this being a key move in strengthening the club’s long-term coaching structure while maintaining Kev’s own impact on the pitch.

Shaun Weatherhead commented that “Redcar Athletic FC is building something special, and with its leadership team locked in for the long term, the journey is only just beginning.”

Since joining the club in the first month of 2024, Carl and Dave have seen a monumental rise that began with a narrow 1-0 win over Northallerton Town, with Adam Boyes and Curtis Round, who at the time were new arrivals, combining, with Boyes scoring the only goal of that match.

Those arrivals of Boyes and Round were accompanied by the signing of Kev Burgess too, who, as mentioned, is now joining our coaching staff, whilst also still playing for the Steelmen!

Step 3 will be fun, and with these new deals in place, it is nice to know that we’ll be led by those who have already seen us promoted out of Steps 4 and 5
