On the road again, this time for a trip down to Lincoln

This truly spectacular season for the Steelmen is now starting to wind down.

Just 2 months of matches are left now, though our opponents in those games are all going to be a challenge.

Obvious ones like Matlock and Emley are accompanied by surprising hurdles, such as Bishop Auckland and an in-form Pontefract Collieries.

His hat trick on Tuesday night has put Bosh back in front of the Step 4 top scorer race, and he is five clear of 2nd placed Albie Hall.

I feel like he is an honorary Redcar player, the number of times I’ve mentioned him.

We still hold the top 3 spots of the league’s top scorer charts, too, with Bosh joined by Brad Fewster and Louis Johnson.

Nathan Guru’s strike was his first of the season too, and it means, apart from the obvious ones of Josh Mazfari/Lewis McDonald, that every player frequently in our squad has now scored a goal.

Mitch Parkinson, Kiren Uppal and Olly Cann are all yet to score, mind you, but they have had a total of 5 starting appearances.

It isn’t just offensively where we have been great though, as at the back we have conceded just 2 in our last 6 games, and since Danny Rowe joined the squad we have played 4, conceded none and scored 22

Danny himself got 2 of those goals against Brighouse as well

Josh Mazfari has also been in excellent form as of late, along with the rest of our defence, with all of them, including those at wing back and midfield, putting in some expert blocks and challenges throughout these past few weeks

117 goals scored for the Steelmen dwarves the lowest scored tally, with that being Blyth Town’s 27

We have scored over 4 times as many goals as the side we got promoted with, and we have also conceded half as many goals as they have

In fact, throughout this entire league, only two sides have scored more than 60goals, and that is Matlock and us

Matlock, though, is 43 goals behind us, and it means they are closer to Lincoln United’s tally than they are to ours.

On the goals conceded side of things, only Emley and Bradford Park better us, with us 3 being the only sides to concede less than 30, though Emley have in fact only conceded 19

There will be questions about that taly though, as their keeper has just moved to Matlock. But only time can tell if their form continues

As for Lincoln United, things have been odd. A floodlight failure on Wednesday night postponed their match against Brighouse, but they were on track to pick up their 5th win of the year.

Their other 4 cames againsnt Blyth Town, Bishop Auckland, Heaton Stannington and Ossett United

They are far enough away from the relegation zone to not need to worry about that, but they’re also too far off the play-offs to have that as an aim, so it seems like a mid-table finish is the only goal

7 points clear of the drop, but with 4 teams separating them from 19th, with us, Emley and Pontefract being the only real challenges on paper

They still have to play a Newton Aycliffe side who just shipped 7 to Matlock, a North Ferriby side who are one of the most out-of-form sides in the league right now, and they’re ending the season with a trip to Ashington, who have just beaten Consett

Goalscoring has been a weird thing for Lincoln too, with just 34 scored, butting them joint last in terms of most scored, but then they have a player in the league’s top scorer charts, with Conor Brown sitting in 10th on 13 goals

They also have Eliot Dye in 14th, with 10 scored, meaning those two players have scored 68% of Lincoln United’s league goals this campaign

In contrast, Bosh, Fewster and Johnson have sored 63% of our league goals.

The final predicted table has Lincoln finishing 5 points clear of the drop, though they pick up just 4 more goals, but at the same time, do you really trust a prediction?

With that, I will leave you until tomorrow. Updates will be on X if you cannot make it, but hopefully you can

As always, take care, and up the Steelmen!
