The First Team coach was pleased with an emphatic response to defeat at the hands of North Shields.
Lee Bullock hailed the impact of substitutes as he praised his players for banding together to pull Redcar Athletic back from a season-first league defeat.
Gutless and forlorn in the Tyne valley but a week ago, the Steelmen’s following efforts proved nothing short of ‘emphatic.’
A treble for Oscar Fletcher guided the Steelmen to victory over Penrith on Saturday, Mark Anderson at the double in a mirrored result against Newcastle Benfield on Tuesday evening.
Bradley Fewster netted a goal apiece in each fixture, Jack Blackford, Nathan Guru and Cam Thomson rounding out ten goals without reply.
Redcar Athletic 5-0 Newcastle Benfield
Our report as the Steelmen ease to victory over Newcastle Benfield.
Given the unenviable job of addressing the fans on that fateful night in North Shields, First Team coach Lee Bullock shared another conversation with Ash Stone after Tuesday’s thrashing of Newcastle Benfield.
“The last time I spoke to you was after (North) Shields.” He recounted.
“I said we needed a response, and that we would fight back, and I think that’s an emphatic response.
“Two cleans sheets. Ten goals. To be honest, the most pleasing thing is probably the workrate, and the attitude. That’s started from the centre forwards.
“Our midfielders have been by far better than their opposition, and defensively we look very solid.”
In particular, Lee Bullock was pleased with the impact of substitutes, keen to stress the squad was worth more than just the first eleven.
Against Penrith, Jack Bennett came off the bench to tee up Jack Blackford, Cam Thomson adding a fifth on Tuesday night in the depths of stoppage time.
“We’ve got substitutes coming on and making a massive impact.” He said.
“We’ve had a goal tonight, we had a couple of assists on Saturday. The whole squad has played a massive part in pulling us back from defeat.
“Again, it was just the one defeat in ten, and we’ve had a really good response. Two nice performances, that were really enjoyable to watch.”
