The First Team coach gave his honest assessment on a first league defeat.
Lee Bullock accused standards of dipping in the wake of a bitter defeat to North Shields.
The First Team coach argued the Steelmen were dealt the hand they deserved on the balance of play, still adding a little bit of perspective to a sole defeat in ten.

Again slow out of the blocks in a worrying trend, Bullock blasted Redcar as ‘not good enough,’ Dan Waldon and Will McCamley putting the contest out of sight come the half hour.
Waldon notched his second when play resumed, Jack Blackford drifting inside from the flank to net a rather sensational consolation, but far too little too late.
North Shields 3-1 Redcar Athletic
Our report as the Steelmen suffer a first league defeat.

For Lee Bullock, this was an opportunity missed. Results elsewhere offered the Steelmen a chance to close the gap to the top, disappointingly gone to the wayside.
“Obviously, it’s a really disappointing result.” Bullock said. “Especially after last night.”
“We knew what we had the opportunity to do before the game, but I thought we well and truly got what we deserved.

“North Shields were much better than us all over the pitch, probably for 90 of the 95 minutes that we played.
“We’ll take it on the chin. We accept it wasn’t good enough, and as is the cliche in football, we now have to sort it out on Saturday.”
A stinging defeat long in the making, Bullock still offered a small dose of perspective.
The First Team coach admitted one defeat in ten was a record he would’ve gladly taken come the start of league play, and with plenty more football to come.
“It’s one defeat in ten. If you had offered us that at the start of the season, you’d take it.

“We’ve set high standards, and I think they’ve dipped in the last couple of weeks now. We’ve got good lads injured, and a couple of people quite tired.
“We’ve hit the reset button. We’ve lost one in ten. It’s Penrith on Saturday. We’ll go out and fight, and let’s start again.”
