Redcar Athletic president Kev Fryett is urging the local community to back the Steelmen when Silsden visit Green Lane this Saturday.

Gary Forster’s side have the opportunity to make history at the weekend. If they manage to defeat Silsden, their progression to the second round of the Isuzu FA Vase will mark the furthest the club have gone in the competition.

Speaking ahead of the game, Kev Fryett said:

I would like to make a plea to the people of Redcar that if you can spare a couple of hours this Saturday please come along to the BM Bi-Folding Doors Stadium, Green Lane, Redcar and support Redcar Athletic in the 3pm kick off.

On Saturday we are looking to create history by reaching the second round proper of the prestigious FA Vase.

If we can secure the victory it means we will have gone the furthest in the competition in our short history.

Kick off is 3pm and we play Keighley based team Silsden AFC. Silsden currently occupy 2nd spot in the Northern Counties East Premier League, so are going to pose a very tough challenge and your support will make all the difference.

Let’s turn the Lane into a cauldron of noise and get behind the team and our town and put Redcar on the footballing map.

It’s sure to be a fantastic occasion and great value for money with entry prices at £7 adults £4 Concessions & £2 U16s.

With our Steelmen’s Bar providing live pre match and post match music and selling a great selection of ales, and Smokin Joes providing possibly the best football food around, it really is a fantastic opportunity to have a great afternoon.

Please come along and join the Steelmen family and help us make Redcar proud.

The Steelmen have enjoyed a goal laden Isuzu FA Vase campaign so far, dispatching Esh Winning 6-3 away from home before beating Padiham 5-2.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are available both on the turnstile, or via our online ticketing site.
