The Tynesiders beat Redcar Athletic in Carl Jarrett’s first game at Green Lane.
Perhaps the most unpredictable side to contest the Northern League, West Allotment Celtic are three blows apiece with the Steelmen since a shared promotion in 2021.

We took a look back at our shared history with the Tyneside outfit, from previous results, to current form.

WHO ARE YA?
West Allotment Celtic
Formed in 1928 as an amalgamation of West Allotment Juniors and West Allotment Primitive Methodists, Celtic are a club with a bittersweet history.
Allotment worked their way up to the Northern League from the very bottom of the non-league pyramid, enjoying plentiful success on their slow march upwards from the North Shields and District Churches’ League.
On their ascent, Celtic celebrated a remarkable eight titles in the Northern Football Alliance, in addition to clinching the Alliance Challenge Cup at St James’ Park.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the Newcastle outfit, with the past three decades offering years of nomadic football, leaping from ground to ground in the search of a place to call home.
To utter relief, Celtic moved to East Palmersville Sports Pavillion during the 2021/22 season, a ground of little inspiration, but a pillar of hope for the future, and a ground that is truly their own.
CURRENT FORM

After a poor start to the season, West Allotment Celtic are not a side that should be easily written off.
The Tynesiders gave a good account of themselves in a narrow defeat to title-favourites Shildon on opening day, playing out a goalless stalemate with Northallerton Town at the Calvert’s Stadium this time last week.

Redcar Athletic much to the contrary have enjoyed a near perfect opening trio of fixtures, sat atop the division with two clean sheets, and into the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
